Stuff You Should Know

Our students experience the classroom in an active way. They're students who want the best for themselves. They want to be challenged.

Ag Sciences majors conduct research projects, publish their findings, and compete locally, regionally, nationally and sometimes internationally. Research options may include both lab and fieldwork and range from topics such as biotechnology to geographic information systems (GIS) to wildlife ecology.

Penn State offers the only public comprehensive educational program in agricultural sciences in Pennsylvania. You can choose from 20 majors in the following areas of interest:

Ag Sciences has a faculty-student ratio of 1 to 11 so you can expect smaller classes in your major and plenty of personal attention from our faculty. We operate the Ag Sciences Advising Center where you can get help and advice pretty much whenever you need it.

In addition, if you qualify for the Schreyer Honors College, you can take honors courses or add honors options like in-depth writing projects into your regular courses. You also may conduct independent research that culminates in an honors thesis.
